The University of Padova is one of the oldest universities in the world. It was founded on September 29, 1222 by professors and students who had fled the University of Bologna, because of the attack on academic freedoms and the privileges which had nevertheless been guaranteed to teachers and their students.
Originally, the teachings were limited to law and theology, but they were soon extended to medicine, philosophy, astronomy and rhetoric from 1399. The University of Padua was created in response to a need, induced by specific social and cultural conditions, unlike most universities which owe their foundation to a charter with the pope. She settled in 1493 in the Palazzo Bo, which gave her her nickname of “il Bô”.
Every year, hundreds of scholarships in Italy are offered for international students, such as the Padua International Excellence Scholarships.

The University of Padua is offering 50 scholarships to highly talented prospective students wishing to pursue a bachelor’s or master’s degree entirely in English in Padua. The scholarship program is very selective.
Only applicants displaying the highest achievements and school/academic records are eligible to receive a scholarship. Successful scholars will be expected to fulfill an ambassadorial role and represent the University at a number of events.
Amount of scholarship: fee waiver + €8,000 scholarship (gross amount) per academic year. The only amount to be paid by beneficiary students for each year consists of an entrance fee, corresponding to the regional tax and the marca da bollo.
The academic committee of each study program pre-selects eligible candidates and awards the scholarships to the most deserving candidates, based on academic excellence in their field of study, the quality and results of their previous learning.
